AMPED Music Project is a Dunedin-based youth mentoring project. AMPED runs a series of all-ages gigs in Dunedin and Oamaru, providing an alcohol-free environment for these young musicians to develop their skills. The group also attends a series of workshops run by skilled facilitators, which cover areas from songwriting and soundchecking through to event organization and negotiating the music industry. Each band is paired with a highly motivated mentor who matches them musically. This year, the project included students from Logan Park High School, Otago Boys' High School, Bayfield High School, John McGlashan College and Kavanagh College.
AMPED is a project of the Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust, and is presented with the support of Independent Music New Zealand, the Creative Communities Scheme and the Health Promotion Agency.
